Chenin Blanc 2019, Corymbia
£25.00
The Corymbia Chenin Blanc is Chablis-like at present, and just beginning to show promise of blossoming into gloriously complex, fragrant, honeyed maturity. Delicious already, and it’s going to get even better. Corymbia is run by Rob and Genevieve Mann – Rob makes the stellar Swinney wines, and is one of the world’s most highly-regarded winemakers. His CV includes restoring the fortunes of Cape Mentelle and Napa Valley’s Newton Vineyards. Named after the Marri tree (Corymbia calophylla), that surrounds the vineyard, Corymbia’s label represents the tree’s blossom…but look carefully, and you will see that it also charts temperature and rainfall of the growing season, and so changes subtly with each year. Really cool, or really geeky, or perhaps a bit of both.
