The Conterno and Fantino families are famous for their Barolo, however they deserve to be just as famous for their Chardonnay, because it’s sensational. Perhaps they’re not because they make so little of it. This has beautiful delicacy and apple-cinnamon character, alongside satisfying richness. Delicious and very distinctive – definitely Chardonnay, yet definitely nothing like anything from Burgundy, the Americas or Australia.
