Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Man O’ War

This estate grown Waiheke Sauvignon Blanc really is ‘The Sancerre of the South’ – bone dry, bracing and packed with personality and herbaceous notes. It exhibits fresh herb, nettles and gooseberry character, and contains a splash of Sémillon, creating a wine that is fresh and crisp, in a dry fruity style, with a remarkable ‘chalky’ minerality which, over time, will develop into a wonderfully toasted muesli/tropical fruit character. The 12-mile long Waiheke Island, east of Auckland, is an evocative intriguing location. Its native Kauri trees were once prized for shipbuilding – hence the name Man O’War.
