Rioja Mágico 2019, Viñedos Sierra Cantabria

Sierra Cantabria Mágico is extremely concentrated and complex, and yet has a certain approachable quality which makes it a pleasure to drink in its youth as well as in maturity. It has powdery fine tannins, beautiful cherry fruit and a seemingly never ending array of floral high notes and subtle spice aromas. This is the fruit of a tiny 1.18 hectare vineyard called El Vardallo, located in the village of San Vicente de la Sonsierra. It was planted in the early 20th Century with a wide range of vine varieties, including the reds Tempranillo (65%), Garnacha (20%), Graciano (2.5%), Petit Bouschet (1%) and 1.1% others. There are also the white varieties Calagraño (4.4%), Turruntés (3.2%) and Viura (2.8%).
