Chardonnay Four Star 2017, Knipser

With a beautiful golden colour and complex yet mellow and harmonious aromas, it’s immediately clear that this is drinking superbly already. Ripe pear, papaya and dried apricot fruit are wrapped up in an irresistible bundle of salted caramel and butterscotch. It’s almost like drinking toffee apples (but without any sugariness). There is still a slight restraint and leanness to the texture, indicating that the wine could still keep a few more years, and yet the length and complexity on the finish are nothing short of glorious. Bravo!
