This could easily pass for a luxurious Pomerol from a fine vintage. Its complex aromas of purple plum, spice, fragrant violet and forest floor lead to a velvety, lush, mouth-filling palate, with great depth of flavour and sustained finish. Well-rounded and balanced, it has fine-textured, supporting tannins that contribute to the enjoyment.

" A bit flashier than the 2013, the 2014 The Nest Merlot showcases flamboyant cedar and vanilla notes upfront, but it backs the sexy oak with ample black cherry fruit. This medium to full-bodied wine adds hints of dried herbs and tobacco along the way, framed by slightly astringent, woody tannins, then performs a rich, velvety fade on the finish. Drink 2020-2028. "
Winemaking
Attention to detail in the vineyard and winery is the hallmark of the Nest. Hand picked and gently destemmed the grapes were fermentde in small open topped vats. After extensive post ferment maceration to achieve balance between the fruit weight and the structural tannins, the wine was basket pressed before going to French oak barrels, 30 % new. The Nest was blended after 6 months in barrel and returned to oak for a further 12 months maturation.
